Cardiometabolic symposium with AstraZeneca

A cardiometabolic symposium was held with AstraZeneca at the Hilton Addis on Oct 24/2015. It brought in large participants from different walks of clinical practice. Topics in discussion include Heart failure in Africa, Realistic goals for treatment of diabetes, advanced diabetic foot care and complications of diabetes to mention a few. The CME carried 10 credit points and participants registered accordingly. On the occasion, the position statement of ESIM on antibiotic stewardship was also circulated for the attendees.

ESIM conducts CME with Novartis on diabetes and Hypertension

The CME, held on the 3rd of October was largely attended by experts in the field from Sudan, Kenya and Ethiopia. The seminar highlighted challenges faced by practicing clinicians with regards to provision of care in hypertension and diabetes. An important topic was clinician inertia in the management of hypertension. In addition policy issues were raised and discussed in detail.  A small group discussion soon followed, which was also a good platform for interaction of the different nationalities.

ESIM conducts CME in Mekelle

ESIM conducts CME in Mekelle involving 64 physicians from northern Ethiopia. Focusing on cardio-metabolic disorders and antibiotic stewardship, the CME brought experts from different parts of the country together. The feedback from the participants was rewarding to the organizers setting a ground work for further programs.
