Major deal with AstraZeneca

ESIM signed an agreement with AstraZeneca for the conduct of multiple CMEs both in the capital and regions. The deal is expected to boost the capacity of the society in conducting educational activities in the near future.

ESIM to conduct second annual conference

ESIM will conduct its second annual conference at the friendship international Hotel on July 16 and 17. The theme of the conference is on primary health care in Ethiopia and the role of internists. In addition multiple CMEs will be delivered in the conference by various academicians. Research abstracts will be presented by residents and internists from different parts of the country. Recognition of best performing medical residents from different medical schools is also part of the program.

ESIM celebrates residents’ day

Residents’ day was celebrated at Tikur Anbessa Hospital, Gondar University, Mekelle University, Hawassa and St paul hospital. Internal medicine residents were briefed about activities of ESIM and potential areas of engagement for the trainees. Many registered for the membership of the association. The way forward for the link between the society and residents was also discussed.


ESIM conducts CMEs in Gondar, Bahir Dar, Hawassa and Mekelle

ESIM has successfully conducted CMEs in Gondar, Bahir Dar, Hawassa and Mekelle. The topics ranged in various aspects of internal medicine and were warmly welcomed by the audiences. The presenters were a mix of senior and young Internists with different subspecitalities. Upcoming events are to be held in Adama, Jimma and Dire Dawa.



ESIM in Dessie




ESIM conducted a successful CME in Dessie on November 1st 2015. It included topics like Chronic lung diseases with emphasis on bronchial asthma, Hypertension, Diabetes and management of chronic viral hepatitis. Participants were drawn from Dessie and nearby hospitals. Internists as well as GPs practicing in private hospitals also participated. Presenters were flown in from Addis for the event. Questions raised were focused towards addressing everyday problems faced by clinicians. After the event many participants also signed up for membership of the society. The CME was prepared in collaboration with Denk, Billim and Baker Pharmaceuticals, whose support was very crucial for realization of the event..
